Arts Victorian Cast Iron Surround
Prodigious Victorian cast iron fireplace ‘The Arts’, with extended side returns, making a very substantial fireplace. A glorious eagle perched on the world amongst the clouds surrounded by oak leaves and acorns, flanked on either side by panels of passion flowers. Each leg panel depicts the ‘Arts’; you can find a writers quill, a poets scroll, artists palette and brushes, stone masons hammer, musical instruments including a trumpet, castanets, flute, glockenspiel. The detail and workmanship is incredible. In excellent condition. From a house in North London. Circa 1893.
