Victorian Cast Iron Lion Fireplace
Out of the ordinary, heavily decorated Victorian fireplace with a pair of sensational lions which is extremely rare. This is the only occasion we have seen lions on a fireplace. The fireplace has a very unusual shaped fire opening and is decorated with an abundance of details including bunches of grapes and fruit, chalices and wheat sheafs. In excellent condition, complete with new back and grate. From a house in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Circa 1860.
